Explore Mussoorie

Mussoorie is a typical hill station and is one of the top choices for honeymoon couples. While most things about this place make it a classic hill station, yet Mussoorie has many characteristics that set it apart and make it special.

It lies 25kms from Dehradun, and is like a breath of fresh air when you are coming from the city. The streets here are carpeted with pine cones that fall from the vast line up of pine trees and the breeze is gentle and cool. Talking of the view, you can be rest assured that you will be able to enjoy a liberal view of the snow capped Himalayas from various points.

Since it was discovered by Captain Young, a military officer in the 18th century, this hill station is characteristically British. Even today, his touch reflects in the architecture and the old British style town hall libraries. Go a little further and you will find Kempty falls, 11 kms away. Then of course there is Lal Tibba which is worth visiting. This is the highest point in Mussoorie. It offers amazing view of the the Badrinath, Kedarnath, Bandar-poonch, Sri Kantha and Nanda Devi peaks. Mussoorie is the place you should seriously consider next summer holiday.

Places To Visit

Bhadraj Temple
About 15 kms. from Mussoorie, it is ideal spot for trekking via Park Toll - Clouds end, Dudhi. Situated on the extreme western region of Mussoorie town, Bhadraj offers a commanding view of Doon Valley. Chakrata ranges and Jaunsar Bhabar area can be viewed from here. Bhadraj temple is dedicated to Lord Bal Bhadra, brother of Lord Krishna.

Mussoorie Lake
A newly developed picnic spot situated at Dehradun Road. Vinog Mountain Quail Sanctuary 11 kms. to the south of Library Point lies an old sanctuary established in 1993 and covering an area of 339 hectares. It is famous for the extinct bird species, Mountain Quail (Pahari Bater), which was last spotted in 1876.

Camel's Back Road
The place offers a picturesque view of sunset and a life like resembles of a sitting camel. One can also enjoy long walks and horse riding here.

Childer's Lodge
The Childer's Lodge offers an exhilarating view of the snow capped ranges, through the powerful telescope installed here.

Gun Hill
One can enjoy a thrilling ropeway ride to Gun Hill, the second highest peak of this town (2122 mts.). The peak offers a panoramic view of Himalayas Ranges.

Kempty Fall
15 kms. from Mussoorie on the Yamunotri Road is th most fascinating and the biggest water fall - Kempty, located in a beautiful valley. Dhanolti 24 kms, provides a breathe taking view of the valleys and the Himalayan
Peak.

Nagtibba
7 kms. further is devalsari and a 14 lms. further trek to Nagtibba is an ideal spot for trekking.
Surkanda Devi
Situated at an elevation of 3030 mts. above sea level near village Kaddukhal the temple of Surkanda Devi is 33 kms. from Kaddukhal and one has to trek about 2 kms.

Dhanaulti
If you walk past the clock tower in Mussoorie and look between the plains and the rising slopes of Landour you will see a road to the green meadows and deodar forests of Dhanaulti. A perfect holiday destination with a new Eco Park which you will surely enjoy. Itís an actual hill forest village environment with Himalayan breeze and is a delightful place to spend a day.

Jharipani fall
Located at 8.5 Kms from Mussoorie on Mussoorie-Jharipani road. One can go by local bus or car upto Jharipani from where the fall is about 1.5 Kms on foot. A natural must try adventure trip.

Sir George Everest House
The place called Park Estate where building & laboratory of first Surveyor General of India Sir George Everest after whom worlds highest peak Mt. Everest is named stills stands. It is 6 kms from Mussoorie and vehicle can go right upto the place. The place provides an enchanting view of Doon Valley on one side and view of Yamuna Valley & snow bound himalayan ranges on the other. An ideal place for picnic and trekking.

Jwalaji Temple
This famous Hindu temple is located at a distance of 9 km from Mussoorie. Dedicated to Goddess 'Durga', this temple is situated atop the Benog Hill, at a height of 2100 m. Enveloped by thick forests from all sides; the temple poses a striking picture. Moreover, one can have breathtaking view of the Himalayan peaks, Doon Valley and the Yamuna valley from this site.

Jawahar Aquarium
A new place of public interest just on the mall has much to offer as its name. A unique concept in the hills and a thrill for children and as well as tourists having a stroll on the mall with modern restaurant and latest water bodies on one floor.

Tibetan Temple
This temple is situated in Happy Valley area of Mussoorie. It is located one kilometer from the famous Lal Bahadur Shastri National Administrative Academy. The Tibetan temple is evidence to rich Tibetan cultural heritage.

Lal Tibba
Lal Tibba is located in Landour area which is the oldest inhabited place in Mussoorie. Lal Tibba exemplifies highest point in Mussoorie. Thereís a 20m tall tower situated at the edge of the cliff. The tower has an old telescope. You can take a close look at tempting Himalayan range from it and it will cost you around 20 rupees.

Bhatta Falls
situated 7 km from Mussoorie on Mussoorie-Dehradun road lies Bhatta Village. Bhatta Village is accessible by motorable roads from where the easy trek of 3km commences to stimulating Bhatta Falls. It has different ponds and small lakes for bathing and water amusements and is an ideal place for picnic.
